Pooping outside litter boxQ: I have 7 year old and 2 year old cats. my 7 year old came from a somewhat neglectful home and will not poop in a dirty litter box. my husband and i have tried scooping the box several times a day and he still poops out side of the box. my 2 year old is constantly spraying out side of the box when he is mad at us. other then these problems they are pretty good cats. i just dont know what to do about the peeing and pooping. A: Try adding additional litterboxes and using different litter types such as everclean which i have found helpful sometimes. also consider feliaway from 1800petmeds which can sometimes act as deterrant and make sure cleaning soiled areas with nonammonia based product such as natures miracle

Lawn yellowingQ: I have a male dog that does not lift his leg on the posts or trees, he squats like a female. his urine and feces are causing the lawn to yellow. i know there is a sometime that changes the ph balance for a female dog to prevent this. can this same thing be used for a male?? A: Grass saver is a natural food supplement used daily to change your dog's urine ph to prevent lawn yellowing.|you can find more information on this product on our web site.
Hair lossQ: Our choc. lab has minor hair loss around his eyes with a small spot of scabbing/abrasions. he also exhibits a small amount of hair loss on the knuckles, not sure if this is in relation to the eyes. he is an indoor dog that does not dig or rub on concrete. i know cats can exhibit the hairloss around the eyes due to parasite's. would this be the same with dogs? or can dogs have allergies? he seems to sneeze a good bit at times, nothing continually, rub at his face and have a very wet nose. thanks for your time and consideration. A: Sounds more like allergies to me. i would try oral benadryl at dose of 1/2 to 1 mg per pound twice daily as well as add brite coat xs and prozyme to each meal from 1800petmeds which can help skin long term. but should have allergy workup at vet

Oxydex shampoo & advantage flea controlQ: We have to shampoo our small dog with oxydex at least one time per week for control of demodex. does this remove the protection of the advantage we use on him? we also have to give him a small amount of liquid ivermectin every other day. our vet said since he is on that, he does not need heartguard. true? do you also carry that product? thank you. A: If you wait 24 hours after applicatioin of the advantage you will not have any problem bathing your dog. ivermectin is the active ingredient in heartgard and you would not need both. we have ivomec solution, 1%, our sku # 10097

Eating fecesQ: My beagle eats poop from our other dog we own. how do i stop this. it is horrible. we have two ratt terriers, but the beagle just goes after the one. help A: Deter is a safe and effective easy to feed chewable tablet. it should be given to the dog whose feces are being eaten. it is used to stop dogs and puppies from consuming feces. consumption of feces (coprophagia) is a common but disturbing habit in dogs. the cause of this behavior is unknown, but this product is formulated to stop this.
Flea/tick treatment for 8 pound dogQ: We have a year old chihuahua and he is about 8 pounds (7.70 lbs back in 08/03). we are looking at getting frontline plus and was wondering if it would be ok to get the small dog dosage for him. we also have a 24 pound pug we want to get on frontline plus as well but know which dosage to get him. what would you recommend? thanks. :-) A: We cannot recommend using a product in a manner that contradicts the labeled instructions; therefore you would have to use the frontline topspot item #3088 on the chihuahua. for the pug, the frontline plus medium would be fine.(item 10458)
